Cyber Crime is no match for McGruff the Crime Dog®. Think viruses, worms, scams, predators or hackers can get something past him? With your help, not a chance.
• You can dive to stop a virus from scoring
• You can reach to swat away the latest phishing attack
• You can move like lightening to stop cyber pickpockets from swiping passwords
McGruff is spreading the word and teaching people across America to get smart and protect yourself against cyber crime. He will be launching a national tour of sporting events near you to help take on the threats and talk to you about how to “Take a Bite Out of Cyber Crime.”
To get McGruff ready to take on any and all cyber threats, we need your help to get him into top shape. McGuff’s Guard Your Home Net Challenge will ask you to come down and shoot against McGruff, test his skills and sharpen his senses. Try to score a goal with your best kick. Try to shoot a puck by him on the ice. The same way a firewall and security software can stop a virus from invading your home, McGruff is in training to Guard the Home Net!
McGruff is putting his team together now. He is talking to soccer leagues, hockey leagues, and even basketball teams to help maximize his training schedule. So what can you do until the training begins? Start by guarding your own home net.
- Make sure that your home computers are immunized against cyber crime.
- Set your security settings to the highest levels, and if you already have security software, make sure your software is updated and running properly.
- Look into additional safeguards like biometric devices, U3 smart drives, encryption and VPN software to ensure the highest levels of cyber safety.
- Talk to friends and family about cyber crime and threats. The more we share information, the more people know how to get smart and protect themselves!
