You don’t have to be a computer wiz to get smart and stay prepared about cyber crime. I’ve talked to millions of people around the country about how to stay safe on the streets, how to thrive in schools, and how to protect themselves from thieves, predators and crime. Now, I’ve set my sights on telling everyone about cyber crime and how you can stay safe online. Openly talking about the dangers that lurk down every street in cyber space is a great start. It will help us all get smart and know what we are looking for. But we need more. My friends at the CMO Council, FAME, NCPC along with the corporate sponsors for the “Take a Bite Out of Cyber Crime” initiative have developed fun-filled, interactive and education programs so people of all ages can get involved, get smart, and stay prepared.
- I am challenging every person in America to inoculate their home computers in the Mass Immunization Challenge. When more than 81% of home computers lack proper protection, it’s time to step up to the challenge and say no to cyber criminals who think we are most vulnerable at home.
- The Junior CyberGuards will be called into action to scout, report and help educate people about cyber crime.
- Teams from around the country will join together to Guard Your Home Net. I’ll visit sports arena and fields around the country to educate and get out the word on cyber safety.
- I also have a comprehensive Cyber Crime Center, designed to give you a forum to share your stories, learn more about how people have taken on cyber crime and gather important information about how to stop cyber crime in its tracks.
We aren’t defenseless against cyber crime. The more we learn, share and compare, the more we can each spread the word about how to “Take a Bite Out of Cyber Crime!
